Potter Hill Dam Removal – Leading the outreach effort

Lighthouse Consulting Group is actively supporting the Potter Hill Dam Removal project by facilitating public outreach and stakeholder engagement. This initiative explores various removal options, from full dam removal—restoring the river to its natural state—to a partial removal with a nature-like fishway to maintain upstream water levels.

The project aims to improve river connectivity, fish passage, and flood resilience while considering potential impacts on upstream wells, wetlands, and downstream flood risks. Lighthouse is leading community discussions, gathering feedback, and ensuring transparency through stakeholder meetings, regular project website updates, and weekly emails to keep the public informed. This effort includes coordinating outreach with engineers, the Town of Westerly, and the donor, as well as translating technical documents into clear, accessible summaries for the public.
