In their article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2019\/05\/how-to-stop-worrying-about-what-other-people-think-of-you?utm_campaign=hbr&amp;utm_source=linkedin&amp;utm_medium=social\">How to Stop Worrying About What Other People Think of You<\/a>,\u201d they outline why we may not be preforming at a high level because of our innate fear of people\u2019s opinions. This can impact our\u00a0confidence, creativity, and overall potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you start\u00a0paying less and less attention to what makes you\u00a0<em>you \u2014\u00a0<\/em>your talents, beliefs, and values \u2014 and start conforming to what others may or\u00a0<em>may not<\/em>\u00a0think, you\u2019ll harm your potential. You\u2019ll start playing it safe because you\u2019re afraid of what will happen on the other side of the critique. You\u2019ll fear being ridiculed or rejected. When challenged, you\u2019ll surrender your viewpoint. You won\u2019t raise your hand when you can\u2019t control the outcome. You won\u2019t go for that promotion because you won\u2019t think you\u2019re qualified.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Review\u2019s article recommends a few exercises to help conquer our fear of other people\u2019s opinions. They suggest confidence building statements, developing a personal philosophy, and honest reflection.
